Hey guys, I have just recently been contacted by many authors for me to do review of their books for them. So as of now I have done research on many of the books and have decided to review the following books in February and March.
Love, Life and Everything Else- Short stories by Xunaira J. Presence by Perie Wolford (book one) Julius Caesar Brown and the green gas mystery by Ace Hansen Clarity By R James Stevens Stateline By Dave Stanton I know that these are a lot of reviews and it will take a lot of time to read and analyze these books. So I have decided every week starting February 8th I will post a new review on saturday. you can check my calender if I do decide to change a date I will put it one the calender. Thanks Guys! - Express Reviews Rate by viewers: 4.04/5 stars Pages: 246 Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy and Romance Summary from Goodreads: In this sequel to OF POSEIDON, Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half- Breeds should be put to death. As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a race of people she’s never known? My Rate: 4.5/5 My Summary: The Plot: I think Anna Banks came up with an exceptional plot. Even though there was a lot going on in the book , Anna constantly keeps her readers engaged in the plot. I really liked how the book didn't jump from event to event too soon or even drag on the scenes. I was a little disappointed that the book was a lot shorter than I was expecting. Since this was a sequel and we discovered all these plot twists in the first book I was expecting an extremely long book. Although this book wasn't as long as I wanted it was still perfection served on a silver platter. The Characters I love these characters, I love their one-liners, but sadly this book didn't portray much of the character development that I expected and was looking forward to. I was really excited for more Galen and Emma's relationship and what disappointed me the most was that they spent half of the book apart. I wanted to see more development between Nalia and Emma because Anna put this huge secret that was revealed in her first book but I don't really think Anna took all her chances that she had. I did like how you get more of a personal feeling for Rayna we did discover her more vulnerable side. Up until this book I always thought of Rayna as the tough kick-ass girl but in Of Triton I actually discovered that Rayna's much more vunerable then Anna portrayed her in the first book. I loved the more in-depth exploration of characters in this book. Setting Of Triton takes place in multiple locations. With Anna's descriptive word's you will believe you are breathing underwater in the middle of the pacific ocean. From the detail she uses I almost believed that at one point in her life Anna has jumped of a helicopter into an ocean full of sharks. Anna describes the surroundings with such vigorous words that you might actually believe you are at the alleged place. There are certain books that you keep coming back to and the Of poseidon series is one of those books that you will read and re-read many times. My Final Viewpoints Of Triton is an exceptional book It is full of one-liners and characters with vivacious personalities. Anna Banks out did herself on this book and she IS one of my authors to watch. I have read all her books and her talent flows throughout all of them. R.D Cumming once said a good book never ends, and I totally agree because I hope this series will never end and we will continue to read the amazing books by Anna Banks. Look out for her third book, Of Neptune, which I am dying to read. Hey guys, sorry to bother you, but i just started a giveaway for a signed copy of the book thief along with another surprise! Pages: 370 Setting: Park City, Utah Goodread rate: 3.83/5 stars Genre: Mythology, Romance, Adventure Goodreads Summary: Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath. Now she's returned-to her old life, her family, her boyfriend-before she's banished back to the underworld . . . this time forever. She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists. Nikki longs to spend these precious months forgetting the Everneath and trying to reconnect with her boyfriend, Jack, the person most devastated by her disappearance-and the one person she loves more than anything. But there's just one problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who enticed her to the Everneath in the first place, has followed Nikki home. Cole wants to take over the throne in the underworld and is convinced Nikki is the key to making it happen. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back, this time as his queen. As Nikki's time on the Surface draws to a close and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she is forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's queen. My Review: My Rate: I would rate it 2.5/5 stars. The Characters The characters weren't as real as they could be. The characters of this book reacted to certain situations in very different ways. WHen Nikki told Jack she could breathe in his emotions he didn't get that scared. I mean the girl went to hell and back and your only reaction is "cool". And Cole, he claims he loves her yet all he does all throughout the book is sabotage her life and ruin her relations with her family. These characters made me feel depressed. Nikki doesn't believe in redemption and thinks she should be tortured for the rest of her life. Jack gets a piercing because a girl left him. And when Nikki tries to kill Cole in the end of the book by crushing his guitar he still tries to get her to go with him. I MEAN THE GIRL TRIED TO KILL HIM AND YOU STILL WANT HER! Then at the ball Cole makes Jack hate her and everyone else hates her and when Cole passes out does Nikki go storming out of the room pissed off, no she goes and talks to the guy and takes care of him till he gets his energy back FROM DRAINING HIS ENERGY, and why did he lose his energy BECAUSE HE TRIED TO RUIN HER LIFE, AGAIN! This book makes no sense. She lets some random guy who sucked feelings out of her and let him take her to the underworld and feed of off her. And when Jack explains why Lacey was in his room that night, that she just snuck in, THAT"S STALKER CRAZY. I would get a restraining order. And Jack the guy who cheated on her and caused her to forget her memories is the same guy who brought her back to Earth, I mean honey, HE CHEATED ON YOU! The Plot The plot is based of off Eurydice and Orpheus, greek myths, which are apparently true in this novel. I see how the author was trying to base her story of off the greek characters but it felt like she kept the original story and just changed names and added random bits of knowledge just so people couldn't tell that she copied the story. The plot has so many unexplored holes in it. The author was trying to go through two different time periods, but failed miserably. The author had so many chances to inflict irony by revealing something that the main character didn't know about, but she didn't use her chance that she had. As I said earlier, Niki's mission is redemption. So how did she achieve it, she went to the boy that cheated on HER and APOLOGIZED to him. Did she go to her Dad that lost his wife of did she go to her brother who was probably having a tough time,, or her best friend who stood by her all the time, no, she went to her CHEATING boyfriend. And I didn't even get what Cole's point in this novel was. All he basically did was ruin Nikki's life. Cole was like the Bella Swan of twilight. He had no emotion and basically when you thought he would show even a sliver of emotion, he swallows it down and goes back to being one of the most boring people in the book. When Nikki told Jack how she ended up in the Everneath she mentions how Cole took the pain away when she almost lost her foot, and what tickles my mind the most is after Cole stole her emotions, why did she go back to her. The guy was probably a creep or something so... Why? The Love Triangle In this novel the triangle is between Cole, Jack and Nikki. But I wouldn't really consider it a triangle, more like an acute angle. I mean it's obvious that Nikki detests Cole, but the thing that confuses me is that Nikki kept running back to Cole even though he tried to ruin her life like 5 times in the first 8 chapters of the book. This book did have something that made me keep want to reading. Maybe I wanted to see how much bullshit the book could fit in 400 pages. This book shouldn't even be considered as a love triangle, partially because It was obvious that Nikki preferred Jack. I didn't get how it could be a love triangle. The triangle was so unclear that at some point I thought it was between Jules, Jack and Nikki. It obviously wasn't a love triangle because the girl of the triangle tried to kill the guy the author wanted her to be in love with. Why did I rate it 2.5/5 I gave this book 2.5 stars because I get how the author was trying to make a plot and develop characters even though they practically suck. I liked the idea of Greek Mythology but the author hasn't quite gotten to the connection part of the writing process. I'm not saying Brodi Ashton isn't a good author it's just she chose a subject she didn't know that much about. It felt that when she was writing this she kept finding new facts and tried to incorporate it into the story but it made the story feel stuffed with facts you didn't need and meager with facts that were necessary to the story. Would I recommend this book? If I was recommending books, this wouldn't be my first choice. I would recommend this book as a lite read, a fluffer. A book to read if you have nothing else to do. Will I be purchasing the second book? Honestly, I'm not in a rush to get it, or buy it and read it right away on my kin but I probably will read it to see where Brodi goes with this book. If you are a fan of my book, I have added the third book to my release dates. It actually comes out tomorrow which is why I feel this review is just in time for the release tomorrow. Warning, contains spoilers! This is what happy looks like By: Jennifer E Smith Pages: 416 Rate: 3.75/5 stars Genre: Realistic Fiction, Romance, Young Adult Summary from Goodreads: When teenage movie star Graham Larkin accidentally sends small town girl Ellie O'Neill an email about his pet pig, the two seventeen-year-olds strike up a witty and unforgettable correspondence, discussing everything under the sun, except for their names or backgrounds. Then Graham finds out that Ellie's Maine hometown is the perfect location for his latest film, and he decides to take their relationship from online to in-person. But can a star as famous as Graham really start a relationship with an ordinary girl like Ellie? And why does Ellie want to avoid the media's spotlight at all costs? Okay so I know that This is what happy looks like is an option for the best book of 2013, but I decided that I really should do a book review for this amazing book, even if it is an option. So if this book is chosen then I will do an author week on Jennifer's other books, like the statistical probability of love at first sight. So enjoy! Honestly, I rate this book, 4/5 stars. I appreciated the characters and I liked how easy they were but, part of the book felt a little unrealistic to me. I mean first of all you get a fairly simple email wrong, then you are a famous celebrity while your counterpart is the daughter of a famous US senetar who's running for president. When I read books that are supposed to be realistic fiction, I kinda want it to be realistic , but I did like the characters, Ellie is the girl next door. When you're reading the book she's the girl that you're like "Ha, ha, that's totally something I would do." A lot of people say they didn't like this book because there was too much going on, but I found that the best part. This is what happy looks like is a fluff read. You don't need to focus on what's going on. You can just chill and read it. This book is one of those books you can put down in the middle of December and pick it right back up in January and you wouldn't miss a beat. I loved Graham in this book. He was that guy that every girl wanted to bring home (except Ellie). He was sweet and kind and really funny, I mean the guy traveled across the USA to meet some girl he barely knew. And at some points I did want to strange Graham. Mostly when he went out with Quinn and Olivia, LIKE SERIOUSLY. Whoo, I''m getting mad at a fictional character. But now that I'm mad, I guess I can yell at Ellie too. Sweetie, this guy is crazy about you and you break up with him because you're scared that the press will find you. Well there's an obvious solution to that AVOID THE PRESS! GOOD GOD! or maybe... TELL HIM THE TRUTH. Ok breathe, whoo. Overall though, there was some moments that just made me smile or sigh. For example, when they're on the beach and he finds a heart shaped rock, or the whoopie pie, which is actually the desert of Maine, who knew! This is what happy looks like is filled with witty humor and cheesy but loveable romance. This is a book that you can tell from the beginning that you like. So if you do like this book you should really buy it because I swear, once you read it you will have Jennifer fever! Hey guys, I'm thinking of revealing the winner of the poll for the best books of 2013 in February, and I'll do a special author week for the winner. So vote away!!!
