Pages: 370 Setting: Park City, Utah Goodread rate: 3.83/5 stars Genre: Mythology, Romance, Adventure Goodreads Summary: Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath. Now she's returned-to her old life, her family, her boyfriend-before she's banished back to the underworld . . . this time forever. She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists. Nikki longs to spend these precious months forgetting the Everneath and trying to reconnect with her boyfriend, Jack, the person most devastated by her disappearance-and the one person she loves more than anything. But there's just one problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who enticed her to the Everneath in the first place, has followed Nikki home. Cole wants to take over the throne in the underworld and is convinced Nikki is the key to making it happen. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back, this time as his queen. As Nikki's time on the Surface draws to a close and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she is forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's queen. My Review: My Rate: I would rate it 2.5/5 stars. The Characters The characters weren't as real as they could be. The characters of this book reacted to certain situations in very different ways. WHen Nikki told Jack she could breathe in his emotions he didn't get that scared. I mean the girl went to hell and back and your only reaction is "cool". And Cole, he claims he loves her yet all he does all throughout the book is sabotage her life and ruin her relations with her family. These characters made me feel depressed. Nikki doesn't believe in redemption and thinks she should be tortured for the rest of her life. Jack gets a piercing because a girl left him. And when Nikki tries to kill Cole in the end of the book by crushing his guitar he still tries to get her to go with him. I MEAN THE GIRL TRIED TO KILL HIM AND YOU STILL WANT HER! Then at the ball Cole makes Jack hate her and everyone else hates her and when Cole passes out does Nikki go storming out of the room pissed off, no she goes and talks to the guy and takes care of him till he gets his energy back FROM DRAINING HIS ENERGY, and why did he lose his energy BECAUSE HE TRIED TO RUIN HER LIFE, AGAIN! This book makes no sense. She lets some random guy who sucked feelings out of her and let him take her to the underworld and feed of off her. And when Jack explains why Lacey was in his room that night, that she just snuck in, THAT"S STALKER CRAZY. I would get a restraining order. And Jack the guy who cheated on her and caused her to forget her memories is the same guy who brought her back to Earth, I mean honey, HE CHEATED ON YOU! The Plot The plot is based of off Eurydice and Orpheus, greek myths, which are apparently true in this novel. I see how the author was trying to base her story of off the greek characters but it felt like she kept the original story and just changed names and added random bits of knowledge just so people couldn't tell that she copied the story. The plot has so many unexplored holes in it. The author was trying to go through two different time periods, but failed miserably. The author had so many chances to inflict irony by revealing something that the main character didn't know about, but she didn't use her chance that she had. As I said earlier, Niki's mission is redemption. So how did she achieve it, she went to the boy that cheated on HER and APOLOGIZED to him. Did she go to her Dad that lost his wife of did she go to her brother who was probably having a tough time,, or her best friend who stood by her all the time, no, she went to her CHEATING boyfriend. And I didn't even get what Cole's point in this novel was. All he basically did was ruin Nikki's life. Cole was like the Bella Swan of twilight. He had no emotion and basically when you thought he would show even a sliver of emotion, he swallows it down and goes back to being one of the most boring people in the book. When Nikki told Jack how she ended up in the Everneath she mentions how Cole took the pain away when she almost lost her foot, and what tickles my mind the most is after Cole stole her emotions, why did she go back to her. The guy was probably a creep or something so... Why? The Love Triangle In this novel the triangle is between Cole, Jack and Nikki. But I wouldn't really consider it a triangle, more like an acute angle. I mean it's obvious that Nikki detests Cole, but the thing that confuses me is that Nikki kept running back to Cole even though he tried to ruin her life like 5 times in the first 8 chapters of the book. This book did have something that made me keep want to reading. Maybe I wanted to see how much bullshit the book could fit in 400 pages. This book shouldn't even be considered as a love triangle, partially because It was obvious that Nikki preferred Jack. I didn't get how it could be a love triangle. The triangle was so unclear that at some point I thought it was between Jules, Jack and Nikki. It obviously wasn't a love triangle because the girl of the triangle tried to kill the guy the author wanted her to be in love with. Why did I rate it 2.5/5 I gave this book 2.5 stars because I get how the author was trying to make a plot and develop characters even though they practically suck. I liked the idea of Greek Mythology but the author hasn't quite gotten to the connection part of the writing process. I'm not saying Brodi Ashton isn't a good author it's just she chose a subject she didn't know that much about. It felt that when she was writing this she kept finding new facts and tried to incorporate it into the story but it made the story feel stuffed with facts you didn't need and meager with facts that were necessary to the story. Would I recommend this book? If I was recommending books, this wouldn't be my first choice. I would recommend this book as a lite read, a fluffer. A book to read if you have nothing else to do. Will I be purchasing the second book? Honestly, I'm not in a rush to get it, or buy it and read it right away on my kin but I probably will read it to see where Brodi goes with this book. If you are a fan of my book, I have added the third book to my release dates. It actually comes out tomorrow which is why I feel this review is just in time for the release tomorrow.

You could do a post on a movie inspired on a book but I really don't think this blog should do it a lot! This blog is great without movies and I don't think movies should hold this blog back
